A 5.1M earthquake struck West Nevada .. followed by an earthquake swarm of multiple 1.0M to 4.0M aftershocks in the same location.

  • 27 km (16 miles) S (172°) from Tonopah Junction, NV
  • 45 km (28 miles) WNW (284°) from Weepah, NV
  • 52 km (32 miles) SE (127°) from Qualeys Camp, NV
  • 72 km (45 miles) W (267°) from Tonopah, NV
  • 304 km (189 miles) E (100°) from Sacramento, CA

As it turns out, we have a “coal mine” area, called Coledale… also, dormant volcanoes at the epicenter.  History of Coaldale here:

Finally, many may not know about the dormant supervolcano near this area — this smaller volcanic complex is part of the larger Mono Lake Supervolcano , which is located approximately 47 miles away:
