12/22/2013 — US Army Mobile Laser can SHOOT DOWN INCOMING MORTARS

New Army Mobile Laser can shoot down incoming MORTARS !

The Army has successfully tested a futuristic laser weapon capable of shooting football-sized mortar rounds and unmanned drones out of the sky. The truck-mounted weapon, known as the High Energy Laser Mobile Demonstrator (HEL MD) is still about a decade away from becoming an operational part of the Army’s arsenal, but gives a hint at what a weapon of the future could look like.

The Army tested its HEL MD laser at the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico for nearly six weeks starting in mid-November. The device was equipped with a 10-kilowatt solid state laser and a radar system mounted atop a heavy truck.

During the tests a “quarter-sized” invisible laser beam successfully targeted and destroyed more than 90 incoming mortar rounds and six to seven unmanned drones.

Terry Bauer, the project manager for the laser program, said the test results were “above and beyond” what they had expected going into the testing. “We had no thoughts that this 10-kilowatt would be as successful n doing that as it has been. “

Mortars are common battlefield weapons that are hard to protect against because they can be fired from short distances. The mortars used in the test were standard 60 millimeter rounds – the length of a football – fired from a distance of less than two kilometers in salvos of two to three mortar rounds each. The laser’s success rate against incoming mortar shells indicates that battlefield protection from the small explosive rounds could be possible in a few years.

Army video of the laser tests shows the laser targeting the mortar so that it burns up in mid-air and does not explode when it completes its trajectory. “We turn it into a rock, basically,” said Bauer.

Large test drones flying 5 kilometers from the laser system were made to crash into the New Mexico desert by aiming the laser at the tail of the unmanned aircraft. An infrared camera on the video captured how a small dot of light on the tail slowly grew in intensity, forcing the craft to lose navigational control. The laser can also be used for less offensive purposes by dialing back its intensity to blind sensors aboard the drones.

Plans call for shrinking the size of the laser system while also boosting its strength to 50 kilowatts, and ultimately 100 kilowatts. Shrinking its size will make it easier to mount on more mobile vehicles that can be used on the battlefield. Increasing the wattage will allow the beam to hit faster-moving targets at greater distances and in a shorter amount of time. For example, a 100 kilowatt laser beam will be able to bring down a target in a tenth of the time it currently takes for a 10 kilowatt laser.

The laser is able to fire and target only one incoming target at a time, so the idea is that when the lasers are fully operational they will be grouped in teams of three or five to protect against multiple incoming rounds. These laser units could be deployed in the future to help protect frontline units or bases . Ultimately the laser could be used against faster moving aircraft and cruise missiles.

The Navy made waves earlier this year when it unveiled that its own laser mounted aboard a destroyer had brought down test drones and which in the future could be used to fend off fast-moving attack boats. Current plans call for the Navy’s laser to be tested aboard the USS Ponce, which is permanently stationed in the Persian Gulf.

The next phase of testing for the Army’s laser will be early next year when it is taken to an Air Force base along Florida’s Gulf Coast to see how it handles a marine environment.

So far the Army’s laser testing program has cost about $13 million a year since it began in 2011. But over the long term it looks like a good deal as the cost of taking out each mortar round is estimated to be the price of a cup of diesel fuel.

Ultimately, the direction the US Military is taking a MAJOR STEP FORWARD by implementing these systems.

We are at a turning point in history, much like in past centuries, when guns took the place of arrows, or when cannons made walled cities pointless.

Now, we have directed energy weapons (DEW), high power microwaves (HPM), and high power lasers (HPL).  The days of projectiles are over, has the rest of the world even realized this fact yet?

Look what ELSE high power microwaves , and high power lasers can do…

12/16/2013 — Kansas Earthquake — 4.2 Magnitude event inside fracking operation

video report here:

Kansas, which not normally very seismically active, is showing signs of the surrounding pressure building in Oklahoma and Texas.

Today, December 16th 2013, a 4.2 magnitude event struck directly near a KANSAS injection well.  This current earthquake falling across the border from Oklahoma, happening just 0.3 miles away from the nearest well head.

For Kansas (and the midwest USA), this is noteworthy.

Now we’ve seen movement across the ENTIRE craton edge.

The movement  began on the West Coast (5.5M off the coast of Oregon on December 2), followed by an earthquake swarm in Oklahoma / Texas (December 5th – 7th), followed by a Yellowstone earthquake swarm (December 9), followed by a fracking earthquake at the Colorado New Mexico border (December 10th) , followed by a Eastern Craton edge earthquake at the Tennessee Georgia border (December 10th), followed by a Northeast Craton edge quake in Southeast Canada  (December 11th), finally followed by this Kansas 4.2M event today (December 16th).

Be prepared for additional movement in nearby adjacent areas, near term.

Why was this expected?  See my previous post regarding the Yellowstone (western craton edge) Earthquakes , and this post regarding the earthquake swarm in Oklahoma / Texas.

This current Tennessee / Georgia earthquake occurred after a series of larger events to the West and Northwest….. all happening along the edge of the craton .

The fracking earthquake swarm in Oklahoma / Texas, the supervolcano chamber earthquake swarm in Wyoming / Idaho, and now this noticeable 3.1 magnitude occurring to the East.

The pressure transfer along the edge of the plate is OBVIOUS now.  Previously geologist have denied this can happen ! This is profound proof for the seismologists, and geologists who are studying these events.

12/10/2013 — Dutchsinse makes NASDAQ !!

Original video the article is referencing here:

Google’s Awful Changes to YouTube Laid Bare in Nightmarish Tale

Earlier this month, Google ( GOOG ) overhauled YouTube’s comment section — the place where taste, logic, and decency go to die — and integrated Google+ in the hopes that attaching real names would lead to better discussions.

The response from users, however, was far from positive. Users bemoaned the erosion of privacy and the ability to post videos and comments anonymously. (Never mind the fact that any site with a Facebook ( FB ) comment section featuring real names contains just about as much ignorance and hate as your standard YouTube video.) They accused the move of being a blatant attempt to boost Google+ traffic and usage, and complained that the actual implementation of the comment section — wherein awful posts are pushed to the top simply because they have a large number of replies — is one of the worst design decisions Google has ever backed.

But if you thought the recent changes Google made to YouTube were bad before, wait until you hear the harrowing, nightmarish tale of what happened to Michael Janitch, a.k.a dutchsinse, when his account was flagged.

Janitch found himself at the mercy of a major security flaw in Google+, influenced by the company’s push to use real names on the social network. His dutchsinse profile on Google+ was flagged erroneously (and, with a heaping bowl of irony, anonymously) for being an imposter. In cases like these, Google tends to take a “shut down first, never ask questions later” approach and promptly deleted Janitch’s dutchsinse page. However, because his popular YouTube page is tied to that Google+ account, all his videos and subscribers were removed as well.

More than 800 videos and 75,000 subscribers accumulated over the course of three years gone, all because someone flagged his separate Google+ account. His YouTube account, according to Janitch, never received a single strike or violation otherwise.

Janitch wasn’t sent an email from YouTube or Google+ regarding the issue. And despite having his cell phone number tied to both accounts for log-in verification, he didn’t receive a mobile notification either.

Making matters even more Kafkaesque, not only is there absolutely no way to dispute the flag before Google automatically shuts down a profile, there is no official recourse to get your videos back. It took one of Janitch’s inside connections at Google to contact the policy team to restore his YouTube page, his videos, and his subscribers. But that still left Janitch without a means to use his Google+ account on YouTube without going through a confirmation process.

And that confirmation process is pretty horrifying, too.

From Google+, a user who has been flagged as an imposter is taken to a Reinstatement Request page which reads:

Google+ has always been about connecting just the right people. Whether you’re reaching out to an old friend or looking up the business hours of a local store on its Google+ Page, you want to be confident that these profiles and pages really represent who they say they do. We are concerned that your Google+ Page is impersonating another person or entity. In order to keep Google+ safe, we need to verify some information about your page.
From there, you identify the profile as either an individual or business, and then you’re taken to a form to confirm your identity.

How do you confirm your identity? A photo ID.

Proving that online anonymity has fully eroded on YouTube, Janitch was forced to send a copy of his passport to prove his identity. However, bear in mind, the Google+ profile was for “dutchsinse,” not Michael Janitch. Obviously, the name “dutchsinse” doesn’t appear anywhere on Janitch’s passport, so there was no simple way for him to confirm his online persona.

And Janitch had to go through this process six times.

Six times, someone with a grudge — or simply wishing to prove the absolute mess caused by YouTube’s Google+ integration — flagged Janitch’s account as an imposter and six times he had to jump through hoops in order to get it back. Of course, the user flagging the account doesn’t have to provide an ID in order to prove that Janitch was, in fact, impersonating him. Only the accused must prove his innocence.

It is astounding how many problems Google caused with this integration. Cleaning up YouTube comments is a wonderful notion, some might even say a pipe dream. But not only did Google exacerbate the problem — as evidenced by fake Google+ accounts and the lack of a character limit in the new comment section — it has penalized honest YouTube users with a confirmation rigmarole for erroneous accusations on a completely different site.

Google, it’s time to fix your fix.

12/09/2013 — Yellowstone Earthquake Swarm — Craton movement obvious OK, TX, WY, WA

video update here:

Over the course of the past 48 hours, December 7th, through December 9th 2013 — a series of moderate sized earthquakes has struck directly along the edge of the North American Craton.

This newest craton edge earthquake swarm consists of upper 3.0M and mid-4.0M earthquakes occurring just South of Yellowstone National Park (supervolcano).  Still well within the newly defined perimeter of the underground magma chamber(s) associated with past eruptions.

This Yellowstone swarm is on top of yesterdays 4.5 magnitude event in Oklahoma, and the ADDITIONAL 3.7 magnitude event in Northeast Texas (both at fracking operation earthquake swarm locations).

  5. 292km (181mi) NNE of Salt Lake City, Utah

We have been watching over the past 7 days, since December 2 2013, for this Yellowstone swarm to occur.

THIS SWARM WAS EXPECTED.  Read my post from Dec. 2, 2013 here:

Past 24 hours of noteworthy earthquake activity… 5.5M off the West Coast (coast of Oregon) — in the fresh lava fields , where the USGS announced new small fissures which are producing large volumes of lava across the sea floor (burying USGS sensors). A sign to expect movement along the craton edge (again).. meaning OK, TX, AR.. possibly CO/NM border, and Yellowstone again as well.

Any time Oregon shows, we see follow up along the edge of the plate.

below is a screenshot of the 5.5M event which preceded this current craton unrest:

oregon 5.5m dec 1 2013

Areas which still have not shown movement .. such as the fracking operations at the CO/NM border, also along the craton edge to the Northeast (Canada US border), East Coast Virginia, and off the East coast by a couple hundred miles.

New Madrid is quiet… a few earthquakes under 2.0M , but rather silent due to the pressure relief occurring to the South, West, and East (via the craton edge, yellowstone, fracking earthquakes).

More on the Yellowstone magma chamber here:

The reservoir of molten rock underneath Yellowstone National Park in the United States is at least two and a half times larger than previously thought. Despite this, the scientists who came up with this latest estimate say that the highest risk in the iconic park is not a volcanic eruption but a huge earthquake.

Yellowstone is famous for having a ‘hot spot’ of molten rock that rises from deep within the planet, fuelling the park’s geysers and hot springs1. Most of the magma resides in a partially molten blob a few kilometres beneath Earth’s surface.

New pictures of this plumbing system show that the reservoir is about 80 kilometres long and 20 kilometres wide, says Robert Smith, a geophysicist at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. “I don’t know of any other magma body that’s been imaged that’s that big,” he says.

Smith reported the finding on 27 October at the annual meeting of the Geological Society of America in Denver, Colorado.
