The pressure along the edge of the North American craton is making itself known via moderate earthquake movement across roughly 1,700 miles.
Movement showing from the Northwest in Utah, reaching southeast across Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas, and Missouri, now producing an event in Virgina.
This diagram shows the past 7 days of earthquakes 2.5M+ , up to May 21, 2014. Clearly the edge of the plate is in flux.
Information on this 2014 Virginia earthquake :
Worthy to note, the 5.9M earthquake which occurred in Virginia very close to another fracking operation….
Now that you know about the Virginia movement, and the past connection between earthquakes and fracking, it should be easier to see the signs of tectonic stress which also occurred in the middle of the Southern edge of the craton.. in Kansas, and Oklahoma (again).
This diagram below shows the Kansas earthquake occurred very close to the epicenter of the what is arguably the largest earthquake in Kansas history, which occurred just a few months ago, December 16, 2013 at the same fracking operation.

37.128°N 97.641°W depth=8.5km (5.3mi)
As I was putting together this article discussing the 2.7M earthquake in Kansas, and the 3.2M event in Virginia….. a 3.7M earthquake just struck at the Oklahoma fracking ops (again).

Overall, the fracking earthquakes are a sign of the greater pressure being placed upon the drilling / injection well operations …… the pressure is coming from the Northwest ….. transferring along the edge of the craton from the NW (Idaho / Utah / Montana) to the SE (Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Missouri).. then back NE up the East Coast (Virginia to New Brunswick Canada).
The pressure transfer is causing earthquakes at the weak spots — unfortunately, the weak spots are perforations in the crust made by humans via “fracking”.
