The United States has seen an increase in moderate earthquake activity, not yet considered “large” , however inching its way towards the direction of a large event possible coming soon.
Last 24 hours of earthquakes in the continental United States shows the Western edge of the craton is in an unsettled state currently:
Past 7 days of earthquakes in the United States (3.0M and greater) shows the SW and Western portion of the craton giving way under serious pressure coming from the Northwest (silent on earthquake activity due to pressure being transferred to the weak points further South – Wyoming, Oklahoma, Arizona / New Mexico, and California):
Internationally we’ve seen some heavy movement in the West Pacific (yesterdays 6.8M earthquake in Japan for instance).
We’ve seen a LACK of earthquake activity in normally prone areas such as the Pacific Northwest , Vancouver British Columbia, also central America near Nicaragua, and Chile / Peru.
Watch the silent areas adjacent to the areas showing heavy movement currently. The compensation adjustment for the large plate movement in the West Pacific will spill across the edge of the Pacific plate to the currently silent areas.
Monitor earthquakes nationally, and internationally using the links below:
