3/24/2015 — TWO back to back 4.0 magnitude earthquakes strike Oklahoma fracking operations

When it comes to earthquakes, in a rare twist of events, today we saw something we do NOT normally see.  Two different 4.0 magnitude earthquakes struck Oklahoma within a few hours of each other.

Both earthquake locations are fracking wells.

4.0M earthquake activity in Oklahoma is fairly rare, however recently that fact has started to change.  Over the past several months we’ve now seen a DOZEN or more 4.0M+ events, reaching up towards 5.0 magnitude!

I just did an earthquake update a few days ago on March 18, 2015 — fully covered the fracking unrest, and what to expect at these locations.  As it turns out, million year old dormant fault lines have been “reactivated” due to the fracking operation water injection wells.

In the past several weeks, the flurry of 4.0M (and greater) earthquakes has caused Oklahoma officials to BAN the injection well operations near central North Oklahoma.

Multiple 4.0M+ events have been showing at this location.  See the video I made regarding the banning of injection  wells here:

Screenshots below are from Google Earth, showing the nearby operations within a few square miles of the earthquake epicenter.

The Perry Oklahoma 4.0 magnitude earthquake was located at an obvious fracking operation:

Overall, we’re seeing a marked increase in 4.0 magnitude and greater events occur in the midwestern United States.  Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas, and Colorado — as I said before — are the new 21st century version of the New Madrid Seismic Zone.

Read the whole post I made regarding this “reactivation” of million year old faults, and the threat of a greater than 6.0M earthquake.

Professionals are saying the threat of a major earthquake in the region is looming.  Have an earthquake plan , and be prepared, just in case.

Above: The normally earthquake prone New Madrid Seismic Zone (NMSZ) has gone relatively silent, and has been REPLACED by a new active area Due west by 300-400 miles. Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and Southern Colorado are now the new 21st century New Madrid.
