4/24/2015 — Deep ash + Ongoing eruptions — New Photos and Video of Calbuco Volcano eruption in Chile

New photos are emerging from the region surrounding Calbuco Volcano in Southern Chile.

Calbuco had not erupted in over 42 years, silence which came to an abrupt unexpected end on the night of April 23, 2015.

A very large explosive eruption occurred in the late afternoon on April 23rd, and was immediately followed by thick clouds of ash which were deposited for hundreds of miles surrounding this volcano (even reaching far Eastward into Argentina).
