Hawaii now showing larger earthquake activity.
After a rapid buildup of lava inside the lava lake of Kilauea volcano over the past 2 weeks, a magnitude 4.5 earthquake has now struck the flanks Mauna Loa , and Kilauea Volcanoes.
This 4.5M earthquake follows a swarm of events which has struck over the past 2 weeks.
We have seen dozens of 2.0 – 3.0M range events off the South shores of the Big Island of Hawaii which led up to this larger 4.5M earthquake.
Over the past 7 days (up to May 9, 2015) the buildup has been quite clear.
The lava lake in Kilauea caldera fully overflowed about 10 days ago. See the overflow event here:
