6/17/2015 — Large fracking earthquake strikes Midwest — M4.2 at Oklahoma pumping operation

A fairly large magnitude 4.2 earthquake has struck North Central Oklahoma at an oil / gas fracking operation.

Any time we see a fracking earthquake reach up above the M3.0 range, it is worth making note that additional larger earthquakes may follow at this location (in the past we have seen 4.0M+ events lead to other larger events nearby in a short amount of time – usually weeks or less).

We were expecting to see at least one 4.0M+ earthquake at the Oklahoma / Kansas border area … this now makes TWO different 4.0M+ earthquakes in the same location in the past 7 days.

The Earthquake forecast from June 10th called for renewed 4.0 activity at the OK/KS border.  Now that activity has fully struck.

As you can see in the above graphic, there was an additional earthquake in the M4.0 range which occurred along the craton edge in Northwest Canada.

The earthquake in Canada also occurred directly at a fracking / oil pumping operation.
