8/10/2015 — Large M6.9 earthquake strikes the West Pacific Soloman Islands — Earthquake Forecast Hit

A large (and shallow) M6.9 earthquake has struck the Soloman Islands located East of Papua New Guinea.

The Soloman Islands / Sea was the exact area warned for a near M7.0 earthquake to occur this week.   This location was named in the most recent earthquake forecast issued on August 8th (2 days ago).

The earthquake forecast was issued two days ago — thus there was a full 48 hour warning for this earthquake.
